We’re proud to announce that Alberta Health’s eReferral is now fully integrated into Healthquest; the first EMR in Alberta to bring this integration to clinics. Your team can now create, submit, and track specialist referrals electronically, right from the patient’s chart, without ever leaving Healthquest.
What is eReferral?
eReferral is Alberta’s provincial service, delivered through Alberta Netcare, that lets referring providers send and manage referrals electronically.
- Referrals (Consult Requests): Submit a complete, trackable request when your patient needs an in-person specialist appointment.
Until now, using eReferral meant logging in to Alberta Netcare separately and re-entering information your EMR already had. Not anymore.
What the Integration Means for Your Clinic
Start a referral directly from the chart. Open the patient’s record, choose Referral, and Healthquest automatically carries the patient’s demographics into the request, eliminating duplicate data entry and transcription errors.
Search referral reasons (with synonym support) to land on the most appropriate option, backed by Alberta’s Health Services Catalogue and clinical pathways. Specialty and Triage site will populate based on reason or select from the few options related to the reason.
Attach supporting documents in seconds. Chart notes, lab results, and diagnostic imaging reports are attached to what the specialist needs straight from the patient’s Healthquest chart.
Submit and track without leaving your EMR. See the status of every referral submitted, triaged, waiting, and booked at a glance. No more “did they get our fax?” phone calls.
Close the loop. Responses and updates can be edited in Healthquest, so the referral history lives where it belongs: with the patient’s record.
