As the April 18th deadline approaches, we have new information regarding the Netcare upgrade.
Recently, you may have received an email from Alberta Health Services regarding upgrade requirements for remote users of Alberta Netcare.
Additionally, in late 2018, Citrix Receiver was replaced with Citrix Workspace, which also works with Healthquest and Netcare.
On Monday, April 15, 2019, Alberta Netcare provided the following update:
"The Citrix related upgrade scheduled for April 18, 2019 (see the notice below for context) will now be performed in two steps in order to mitigate risk and minimize user impact:
On April 18, enhancements will be applied that impact remote/community users that do not use a “parameter launched browser” system to access Alberta Netcare Portal. These users access Netcare through albertanetcare.ca.
On April 25, enhancements will be applied that will potentially impact Parameter Launched Browser (PLB) systems that access Alberta Netcare Portal through albertanetcare.ca.
** List of known PLB vendors: Microquest
- April 18, 10:00pm (Remote Access): Apply enhancements to albertanetcare.ca.
- April 23, 9:00pm – 11:00pm (PLB Validation): Temporarily apply enhancements to albertanetcare.ca for vendor/EMR validation
- April 25, 11:00pm (PLB): Apply enhancements to albertanetcare.ca."

Microquest has tested and verified that the latest version of Citrix Receiver (version 4.12 or greater) works with Healthquest and Netcare.
To check if your clinic requires this upgrade, Microquest recommends contacting your hardware vendor to verify your Citrix Receiver version and ensure the upgrade is completed prior to the email’s stated April 18th deadline.
